The COLOR BIT is the algorithmic art project by a two-person team. This art project represents the new method between painting brush and artboard. The philosophy of COLOR BIT consists of five aspects: the affection of colour, time, power, sound and the artist. Through technology-based media, these subtle affections are magnified and placed in a perceptible space via a programming language.
COLOR BIT aspires to change the way the world is perceived by combining multiple media with a mathematical and logical programming language. This Project also rewarded the Best Gold Award of 8th Macau Design Biennial by Macau Designers Association
Bitnary is coined from “bit” and “binary.” The bit is the basic unit of information in computing, while binary code uses the binary number system. ColorBit’s expression of affections flows between and connects sense and sensibility through programming aesthetics, just as men and women seem to work within their own “program.”
The word “ioo” symbolizes “digital” and “technology.” The letter “i” signifies the perceptual aesthetics formed with the programming language, and “i”, sounding like “love” in Chinese, also represents the approachability and warmth of people. Different from works by one artist, iooFace constitutes 101 faces, created based on logic and the warmth of people exhibited in life, technology, internet, and every corner of the world. The work proves the presence of technology and aesthetics.
In light of iooFace, InterFace aims to extend art beyond paper to be an infinite technological art vision through limited programming by integrating more faces from people of different ages and identities. Through snapshots from webcams, faces transform and are processed with iooFace; in the iooooooooFace without an upper limit, 100 images will be selected and undergo repeated transformations, making works connected to each other and make sharing with others and other possibilities possible.
This project allowed us to extend more experience, exhibitions and publication. We have been invited to five exhibitions in Taiwan, an exhibition in Macao. Moreover, we got the Best Gold Award of 8th Macau Design Biennial by Macau Designers Association.
